Women Researchers Support

Practical support for women researchers to thrive in their careers while balancing personal responsibilities.

Eligibility
Practical Support Services are designed to remove everyday barriers faced by women in research. Unlike competitive grant programmes, these services do not require peer review and are allocated based on availability and priority.
Why It Matters
Women researchers contribute enormously to global science but often face systemic barriers that limit their opportunities. By addressing practical needs and providing tailored support, UKABCS ensures women can thrive in research without sacrificing their personal or family responsibilities.

A Word from UKABCS
At UKABCS, we are not only researchers — many of us are also mothers. This section was created because we recognized that the challenges women face in research are real, yet rarely addressed in formal structures. Even when funding is available, barriers remain: traveling to conferences while caring for children, finding time to study essential books, or managing exhaustion from balancing professional and family life. This is not just a support programme. It is something we built out of personal need and lived experience — from the heart of a mother and researcher, to offer what we ourselves wished had existed. And now, it is here for you.If you believe an additional idea could provide meaningful, realistic support — and is aligned with our association’s mission
