Practical Support Services are designed to remove everyday barriers faced by women in research. Unlike competitive grant programmes, these services do not require peer review and are allocated based on availability and priority.
Who Can Apply
- Women Researchers: Undergraduate and graduate students, early-career scientists, and senior academics in biotechnology, bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, or related fields.
- Mothers in Research: Special priority is given to applicants with childcare responsibilities.
- Women Participants in UKABCS Events: Those attending UKABCS conferences, workshops, or training programmes.
Requirements
- Applicants must provide proof of active enrollment, employment, or affiliation with a recognized university, research institution, or organization.
- A short request form must be submitted, indicating the type of support needed (childcare, audiobook access, mentorship, online participation, tools).
- Services are granted on a first-come, priority-need basis, subject to resource availability.
Important Notes
- Practical Support Services are not financial grants. They are direct benefits provided by UKABCS to help women researchers participate fully in science.
- For research funding opportunities, applicants should apply separately through Open Calls in the Programmes & Grants section.
